This week we got to chat with Kate Stevens, owner and designer of Red Giraffe Designs. Kate is another one of our incredibly inspirational family members--read on to learn more about her journey!
Q: What's the story behind your business, and how did you get started?
A: I've always loved taking old jewelry and clothes and turning them into something more wearable for today, but I began making jewelry in 2009 after trying to replicate a friend's bracelet that she purchased in NY. I fell in love with the entire process and slowly turned my hobby into a business. About 6 years later, this past April I opened my first studio/storefront in Columbus!
Q: What makes your products unique?
A: Many pieces that I sell in my store and at craft shows are made from vintage deadstock materials. I also customize many of my pieces to suit each customer. I offer personalized stamped bracelets and charm necklaces. I can even customize the Ohio necklaces I sell with a heart over a specific city, or by adding a date or initials to the front.
Q: What do you like about being part of the Celebrate Local family?
A: The best part about being a member of the Celebrate Local family is how customer service is their number one priority - to both their vendors and their customers. I love that! :)
