Meeting Chelsea Dipman is like drinking a cup of coffee--filled with sparkly, edible glitter. Her spunky energy is contagious and the pieces she makes at Glitteracy reflect that. Each piece is unique and handmade read on to learn more about Chelsea's journey:
Q: What's the story behind your business, and how did you get started?
A: I've always been creative ever since I was little and knew that I needed a career where I could be my own boss and still create. I got a BFA with a painting concentration and a minor in education from Ohio Wesleyan. After college, I followed my dream of being an art teacher, but still wanted to be an artist. After having my fine art in several shows and Short North galleries with some success, I decided that I needed to meet Ohioans halfway and think about what kind of art they wanted in their homes, to give to loved ones, and to express how they feel. That's where making "Ohio Proud" artworks came in! I began with watercolor paintings and prints this past November and have since added greeting cards, tote bags, t-shirts, coffee mugs, phone cases, scarves, jewelry, canvas art, stickers, and art trays. Basically anything I make for my business is something I would buy for myself or loved ones!
The name Glitteracy emerged from my love of all things with sparkle and has been with me for years beginning with my social media persona and continuing with my small business. I hope to make art accessible and to add a little sparkle to someone's day!
Q: What makes your products unique?
A: Sometimes it feels like there are so many entrepreneurs creating product that show Ohio love. Mine are all made carefully and thoughtfully by hand and are made with the hope of creating the perfect piece of art for someone. Each watercolor and drawing I create is unique and made with love.
Q: What do you like about being part of the Celebrate Local family?
A: What I love about being a part of the Celebrate Local family is that every small business in the store is treated with equal care and appreciation. I like that when I walk in the store, I'm always asked how business is going. Celebrate Local is also really great about having tools in place to help every member grow and thrive
