There are hot sauce fanatics (we all know one) and then there's John "CaJohn" Hard. John is more than a fan boy, he's the hot shot of heat, the specialist of spices, the pepper professional--you probably get the point. We got to talk to the guys from CaJohn Fiery Foods this week on how this fire protection engineer began crafting a little fire of his own. 

Q: What’s the story behind your business, and how did you get started?

A: CaJohns Fiery Foods Co. got its start in 1996 when John “CaJohn” Hard, a Fire Protection Engineer by trade, began taking frequent trips to the Gulf Coast and Southwest to work on various fire protection projects. These trips sparked his passion for the local cuisine and then fueled his desire to share authentic hot and spicy foods with his city, Columbus Ohio. Ever since then CaJohns has been a small batch producer of all-natural and preservative free line of artisanal foods such as; salsas, hot sauces, barbecues and spice blends.

Q: What makes your products unique?

A: By producing our products in small batches, helps us to insure the highest level of quality and a consistent taste.We work very closely with farmers all over Ohio and only use their farm fresh chilies in all our products year round. CaJohns kitchen refuses to use commercial pepper mash which can be full of salt. That's one of the reasons CaJohns products have fared so well in national competitions, garnering over 250 international, national and regional awards. CaJohns guarantees customer satisfaction with all of our products.
