Happy Friday! Who else had big family dinners growing up? Here at Celebrate Local, many of us have fond memories of the whole family sitting down for a delicious meal. And everyone loved pasta night. After talking to De Massimo's for this week's family feature spotlight, we think we're overdue for another family dinner!
Q: What's the story behind your business and how did you get started?
A: De Massimo's began in the Spring of 2015 and we got our start selling our sauces at The Hilliard Farmers Market. I've always been told that I should sell my family's pasta sauce, but I've been an educator for the past 18 years and I didn't think I could find time to make that happen. I finally contacted the FDA to become educated and BAM, De Massimo's was created. We began producing our sauces at ARC Industries in Columbus, OH and have continued to grow. The relationship at ARC was great as we got to work with adults who have developmental disabilities.
Q: What makes your products unique?
A: Our products are unique because they are the recipes from my grandmothers and mother. De Massimo's Authentic Pasta Sauce is my grandmother's sauce on my dad's side and De Massimo's Authentic Arrabbiata (spicy) Sauce is my grandmother's sauce on my mom's side. Both sauces are specific to the Abruzzo region of Italy and they are what I was raised on and still eat to this day! The labels on our jars are a tribute to my nonna lofreddi who was from San Giovanni in Galdo, Italy.
Q: What do you like about being a part of the Celebrate Local family?
A: I like the fact that De Massimo's is a member of an Ohio product family that is well supported. You can feel the pride Celebrate Local has for their vendors and their customers!
You can find De Massimo's Authentic Pasta Sauces at our Easton Town Center retail store!
