CL Family Spotlight: The Original Silverware Rest

Where do I put my fork? That is the question Jay and Jeanine Tarantino routinely asked themselves when dining out.  40 years of restaurant and special event experience led them to finally create an answer to that question. We got to chat with them to learn even more about that adventure - check it out!

Q: What's the story behind your business, and how did you get started? A: We were constantly balancing our silverware on our plates and napkins and one day, my wife actually saw a busboy not quite clean a table. She said, "how would you like to put your fork or rolled up silverware there?"...and it went from there. We proceeded with design and, eventually, five patents. A big development was realizing the marketing aspect, which came from our customers. What was 80% 20% utilitarian and marketing/promotional efforts is now 55% utilitarian and 45% marketing/promotion. We displayed at CATERSOURCE in Las Vegas and the National Restaurant Show in Chicago in 2015, the largest tradeshows in both industries. We are currently working on acquiring a national buyer and/or vendor!

Q: What makes your products unique?   A: The Original Silverware Rest, or TOSR, is a study paper prism printed with custom designs that complement any setting. Although durable, they are very inexpensive and meant to be disposable. The upper ridge of the device has three molded insets to cradle up to three separate utensils - and they don't take up additional table space.  The custom designs can include things such as business logos, information, names of a Bride & Groom or guests of honor, or even different colors for different menu items!

Q: What do you like about being part of the Celebrate Local family?  A: Well, first the people! The store is unique and always a perfect fit for customers looking for something out of the ordinary. The concept at Celebrate Local is just attractive to shoppers for many occasions! Find The Original Silverware Rest at our Easton store!
