CL Family Spotlight: Luke's Custom Cakes & Cupcakes

If you follow the events at our Liberty Center location, you may have seen the face to the voice behind this post on Facebook once or twice. Luke of Luke's Custom Cakes & Cupcakes is one of the youngest members of our CL Local Family. We feel extremely lucky that he takes the time out of a busy high school schedule to host tastings and meet and greets with us so often. What? Oh, yes. We said high school... why don't you check him out:

Q: What's the story behind your business, and how did you get started?

A: When I was younger I always enjoyed baking with my mother and when she and my dad went to work, my babysitter and I would find something to new to bake. After a combination of those experiences and watching enough hours of cake shows on television I wanted to actually try to make one. So, I had my mom take me to the store to buy some ingredients and then to the craft store to buy some cake supplies. After I made my very first cake my mom took a picture and shared it with her coworkers. One of those coworkers turned out to be my very first customer, ordering two cakes! Ever since that first order I have been making cakes, cupcakes and more!

Q: What makes your products unique?

A: I think what makes my products unique is that fact that I am only 16. Even some bakeries today don't make things from scratch but I take pride in the work that I make being all homemade. Paying attention to detail is critical, it's one thing for it to look pretty but an even bigger thing for it to taste great too!

Q: What do you like about being part of the Celebrate Local family?

A: What I like most about being a part of Celebrate Local is that they are very welcoming and the store has a good sole purpose — to showcase local companies and promote them. They honestly do treat you like family every time you walk into the store!

If you're in the area, stop by for a chance to meet Luke and get some fresh treats today from 5-7pm!
